Many Pirates chosen
to all-conference squad

by Tad Brewer
Landmark reporter

After winning their second consecutive Missouri Class 3A state championship, nearly all of the Platte County Pirate starters received Midland Empire Conference All-Conference status in football.

Those who received first team all-conference honors include seniors: Robbie Campbell, quarterback; Zach Sherman, running back; David Poolman, wide receiver; Tyler Warner, offensive line; Joe Bullock, offensive line; and Chase Verdoorn, defensive back; and juniors Cory Williams, tight end; Travis Frogge, defensive line; Matt Prout, defensive line; Aaron Bernard, defensive line; Sean O’Connor, linebacker; and Nick Jaros, kicker and defensive back.

Second team all-conference honors went to seniors Nathan Daniel and Charles Grutzmacher, both offensive linemen.

All-conference honorable mention monors were awarded to junior long snapper Zach Hibdon for Special Teams.

The Pirate Football Banquet will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym. K and S Construction will provide food for the banquet. All family, friends, and Pirate fans are welcomed to attend.

The Platte County football team, along with West Platte and Blue Springs, will be recognized before the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers football game on Sunday, Dec. 23.

Tickets to watch the game and honor the Pirates may be purchased at the high school office for $20 per ticket.

There are a limited number of tickets, so first come, first served does apply.
