teachers, staff given pay increase

At Monday evening's Platte County R-3 School
Board meeting, a salary increase for the district's
teachers and support staff was approved.
The board voted to increase the base salary for
the teachers by $800, bringing the salary from
$29,200 to $30,000 beginning in fiscal year 2005.
That's a 2.7% increase.
The board also approved a 4.5% increase in salary
for the support staff of the school district.
In other items, the board awarded the locker
bid to replace 204 lockers at Barry Elementary
to Locker Systems, Inc. in the amount of $19,660.
A second bid was awarded to Calverts Paving
Co. in the amount of $26,360, for asphalt work
at Siegrist Elementary and repair work around
Rising Star Elementary.
The board also awarded the technology bid to
Dell Computers for 95 replacement computers for
a lab at Barry Elementary and a lab at the high
school. The bid also included one desktop computer
and a printer.
In executive session, the board approved the
hiring of Marla Troncin Adams as a practical nurse
instructor for the Northland Career Center, Betty
Rust as an A+ Counselor/NCC placement counselor
and Jennifer Goering as a lunch clerk at Siegrist
Elementary.
