The companyConstruction Solutionschosen
by Platte City to complete a window replacement
project at the citys Civic Center has apparently
gone out of business, allegedly leaving a damaged
roof and a string of unpaid sub-contractors in
their wake, City Administrator Keith Moody said.
According to Moody, the project, which was originally
estimated to cost around $75,000, is complete
for the most part. All that is said to remain
on the construction punch list is the replacement
of three panes of glass that are broken, some
roof repairs due to damage caused during the contractors
window installation, installation of one final
window and a general cleanup of the interior buildings.
The city has about $15,000 in retainage fees not
yet paid to the contractor.
The city required a payment bond be issued
for this work and the subcontractors have been
referred to the bonding company, Moody said
in a memorandum to the Platte City Board of Aldermen.
I am working at resolving these items as
well as the bonding company addressing the outstanding
bills of the subcontractors.
