lighting event in Platte City Wednesday
Platte City will kick off the holiday
season with an old fashioned celebration of Christmas
on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Platte
County Courthouse on Main Street.
Festivities include the arrival of Mr.
and Mrs. Claus and their elves, sleigh rides, musical
entertainment provided by the Paxton Singers and Lori
Norris, face painting and crafts.
The lights will be turned on at 6 p.m. Platte City Rotary
Club will be sponsoring a canned food drive for United
Services with a drop-off locations at Wells Bank.
The club will also be serving hot cider to the revelers.
The Ben Ferrel Museum will be open for tours throughout
the evening. Children will be greeted by the Snow Princess
as they arrive at the museum.
There will be horse drawn sleigh rides
through downtown Platte City. Face painting will be
available at the Pirate Coves Restaurant and childrens''
crafts will be offered at C & B Candles.
The First Baptist Church of Platte City
will display a live nativity scene at 229 Main Street.
