Nominations sought for Truman Glenn
Do you know someone you believe deserving
of public recognition for his/her outstanding contribution
to the betterment of the Platte City community?
The 2002/2003 Truman V. Glenn Award will
be presented preceded in the Fourth of July celebration
at the Platte County R-3 High School stadium.
Presentation of the award is in honor
of former Platte City Mayor Truman V. Glenn, who served
from 1976 until his death in 1984. He was a strong supporter
of all community activities and his enthusiasm, diligence
and ability to get things done have left its mark on
the Platte City community.
In an effort to perpetuate the qualities
of this man, the Platte City Chamber of Commerce, Platte
City Lions Club and the Platte City Board of Aldermen
jointly established the Truman V. Glenn Memorial Award
in 1985. It is presented annually to someone who has
made a significant contribution to the betterment of
the Platte City community through service in one or
more of the following areas: civic improvement, health
and welfare, education, leadership in youth or senior
citizen programs, patriotism or religion.
Nominations should answer the following
1) What has this person done that you
consider to be an outstanding contribution to the betterment
of the Platte City community?
2) Who has benefited from this person's
service? In what way? Was anyone else involved?
3) When and where were these services
performed? For how long?
Nominations should be in writing, not
to exceed one typewritten page. Persons submitting the
nominee should include their name and telephone number.

of nominations is May 30.
