Teen charged in robberies
Travis Roberts, 16, of Kansas City in
Platte County, has been charged by Platte County Prosecuting
Attorney Eric Zahnd with two counts of robbery in the
first degree and one count of armed criminal action.
Last week, Roberts was certified by the
Platte County Juvenile Court to stand trial as an adult.
His bond has been set at $150,000.
The charges stem from two armed hotel
robberies committed in Platte
County in January. On Jan. 27, Roberts allegedly robbed
the Main
Stay Suites Hotel. On Feb. 18, Roberts allegedly robbed
the Quality Inn Suites Hotel, 6901 NW 83rd Street.
Prosecutors allege Roberts committed the crimes with
Nathan Chrisman, 18, of Kansas City, and that Chrisman
used a handgun in the robberies.
Chrisman was charged with the same crimes
in February.
If convicted, Roberts and Chrisman could
each face 10 to 30 years in prison on the robbery charges.
If convicted of armed criminal action, Roberts and Chrisman
would each be required to serve a minimum of three years
in prison.
The charges against Roberts and Chrisman
are merely accusations, and Roberts and Chrisman are
presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
