Pirate Hall of Fame nominations are sought

Induction ceremonies for the 2003 class of the Pirate Hall of Fame have been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3. The ceremony will take place prior to the Platte County /Maryville football game.

This will mark the fifth year that the Pirate Booster Club has inducted new members into the Hall of Fame. Nominations are accepted from the community and forms are available through any Booster Club member or at the Platte County R-3 School District central office.

To be considered for the Hall of Fame an individual must have contributed significantly to the academic, athletic and/or extra-curricular reputation of Platte County R-3 schools.

The person must be 30 years or older and not currently serving the school district as an employee or board member. Nominations will be accepted until May 31, 2003.

Pirate Hall of Fame members include: Jerre Blankenship, Howard Brazelton, Dale Brown, Jack Coots, David Clevenger, David Fisher, Richard Foster, Mike Hartegan, Tom Morgan, Grundy Newton, Loneta Wilson Schmollinger, Dannie Stamper, Jack Swaney, Tom Swaney, Bill Williams, Scotty Williams, Jay B. Wilson, Jr., and Ralph Wittmeyer.
