U.S. Attorney Todd Graves will be roasted

Todd Graves, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, will be the guest of honor and subject of a celebrity roast by the Platte County Optimist Club on Saturday, March 22.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, a dinner at 7 p.m. and the program at 8 p.m. in the ballroom at the Airport Hilton Hotel in Kansas City’s Northland.

Graves was elected Platte County Prosecutor in 1994 and reelected in 1998. He assumed the responsibilities of U.S. Attorney after his appointment by President George Bush in 2001. Roasters will include Jeff Roe, a member of Congressman Sam Graves’ Washington staff; Ivan Foley, editor of The Landmark Newspaper; and Eric Zahnd, current Platte County Prosecuting Attorney.

Betty Knight, presiding commissioner of Platte County, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

The event is an annual fundraiser for the Optimist Club’s programs for children. Tickets for the benefit are $40 per person, $70 per couple and reservations must be received no later than March 19. Silver sponsorships, which include seating for two, are available for $100. Gold sponsorships, with seats for 10, are available for $400.

For reservations and/or information, call either Sandra Thomas (816) 801-7002 or Leslie McClaflin (816-587-2361).
