Wegner
offering to discuss roads with residents
Platte County 2nd District Commissioner Steve Wegner
has offered to meet individually with area neighborhood
groups who would like to discuss possible solutions for
road and bridge issues with County Road District Number
One.
Interested groups should call the county commission office
at (816) 858-3333 to schedule a date and time for the
meeting.
Several months ago, staff began working on a master plan
that will address county transportation issues. In addition
to hiring a consultant to assist with the project, the
county has also appointed approximately 25 citizens to
an oversight committee. In March, the county commission
hosted a public meeting to gather citizen input and share
information about the committee's progress so far.
Wegner stressed that the main purpose of these meetings
with residents is not to hear complaints on specific issues,
but instead to get ideas from people on solutions to the
challenges the county is facing.
"I have said many times that the county is very
aware that there are problems with our county road system,"
he said. "With these neighborhood meetings, I'd like
to take the next step and talk about how we get these
problems fixed."
