R-1
numbers up slightly; R-2 is down
The
North Platte R-1 District had a slight increase in enrollment
this year compared to last, as area schools went back
to class this week.
The North Platte Elementary reported having 208 students,
an increase of 11 from last year; the intermediate school
is about the same as last year with 175 students; the
junior high grew by 28 students for a total of 117; and
the high school held about the same with 217 students
enrolled.
The West Platte R-2 District didn't seem as fortunate.
They opened the school year with an overall student population
of 679 which was a decrease from last year at 711.
"We'll probably have about 25 more when kids come
in from vacations," said West Platte Superintendent
Kyle Stephenson.
The enrollment numbers breakdown with the elementary
at 359 students and the high school at 320 students.
"It's been a very smooth start," Dr. Stephenson
said.
Platte County R-3 District did not have total enrollment
figures on Wednesday, the first day back, and officials
said that enrollment would be released later next week.
