Case
vs. firefighter nearing trial
Platte County Prosecutor Tammy Glick says her office
is ready to go to trial in the case against an Edgerton-Trimble
volunteer firefighter accused of second degree murder.
"We're ready to go," Glick said last week about
the case against Jason Hendrix, who is accused of starting
a fire that led to the death of Dearborn Fire Department
member Travis Brown. Brown was killed when the pumper
truck on which he was riding overturned while responding
to the blaze along Route B and Malcolm Lake Road on a
mutual aid call.
Hendrix remains incarcerated in Platte County. There
will be a docket call involving his case on May 10, at
which time the judge wants to ensure the discovery process
is proceeding, Glick said.
The trial for Hendrix is scheduled to begin on June 24.
