Husband
and wife charged
in Northland murder case
Platte County Prosecutor Tammy Glick has charged Jimmy
L. Williams, 47, and his wife, Brenda K. Williams, 46,
both of Kansas City with murder stemming from the shooting
death of Thadd Mize, 28, also of Kansas City on Dec. 12.
In documents filed with the court, prosecutors allege
that the Williamses followed Mize from the Wal-Mart located
near Barry Road and I-29 after he had dropped off his
children per court ordered custody agreement.
As Mize was leaving Wal-Mart he was on the phone with
his girlfriend. Mize told his girlfriend that a van was
following him and that he was going to slow down in an
attempt to identify who was in the van.
The court pleadings go on to indicate that Mize stated
that the van was in his blind spot and then he shouted,
"It's my in-laws!"
Mize's girlfriend then reported hearing crackling or
popping noises. Mize then yelled, "I've been shot.
He got me. He shot me. Oh my God!"
Mize was found located in the driver's seat of his vehicle
on 68th Street minutes later and was pronounced dead at
the scene. Mize had previously been married to the Williamses
daughter, Chrysta Mize, and they had recently been divorced.
Both Williams are currently in the Platte County Detention
Facility with court dates set for Jan. 15.
