A Platte County Sheriff’s Department deputy suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash during a pursuit early Tuesday morning.
The crash happened about 2:40 a.m. on Hwy. PP in Clinton County, near the Buchanan/Clinton county line.
Cpt. Erik Holland said the deputy was involved in a pursuit that started near Platte City. A car stop had revealed the driver had outstanding warrants. The driver fled, and authorities say his vehicle came close to hitting another officer at the scene.
The deputy was driving a Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle, more commonly known as a Ford Explorer. Holland said Tuesday morning that he was still gathering information about the crash, saying only that the deputy’s vehicle “slid on a road.” The department had not yet released the name of the deputy involved in the crash as of Tuesday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol took the official accident report.
The department SUV was reported to be extensively damaged.
Holland said the sheriff’s department is working on submitting a case to the prosecutor against the driver who fled from authorities.
