It's almost time.
The Landmark's annual public Christmas party, a Platte County tradition, is Friday, Dec. 14 from 4-8 at the Comfort Inn, located at 1201 Hwy. 92 in Platte City.
The conference rooms and dining area at the Comfort Inn are being decorated by Landmark party planner Cindy "Miss Christmas" Rinehart, distribution diva Jenny Shanks-Hernandez and Comfort Inn staff as we speak.
The Landmark will provide food and beverages as guests mingle and visit with newspaper staffers, special guests and public officials.
Many special guests have confirmed for the event, probably our best lineup to date. Special guests who have confirmed include:
Among the special guests on the way: Kris Ketz, news anchor on KMBC-TV Channel 9; Ryan Kath, investigative reporter for KSHB-TV Channel 41; Jay Binkley, co-host of the Big Show each weekday on 610 Sports; DeAnn Smith of KCTV-5; Greg Hall, noted sports media critic in Kansas City; Brad Westmar, radio host/podcaster; Kansas City Royals public address announcer Mike McCartney; Todd Graves, former U.S. Attorney; Eric Zahnd, Platte County prosecutor; Jason Klindt, communications director for Congressman Sam Graves; Platte City Mayor Frank Offutt; and Rob Willard, Platte County Treasurer-elect.
The event is held as a thank you from the newspaper to readers and advertisers. The event also serves as a meet-and-greet between readers and Landmark staff members, including the publishing and reporting staff, as well as our columnists and contributors.
Come visit with Landmark publisher Ivan Foley, office manager Cindy Rinehart, reporter Valerie Verkamp; cartoonist Matthew Silber; columnists including Rambling Moron Chris Kamler (the notorious @TheFakened on Twitter); Brian Kubicki; James Thomas and Hearne Christopher; contributing photographers Bill Hankins, Doug Baldwin and Mylissa Russell; contributing private investigator Ron Rugen; contributing reporters Tim Kubicki, Andrea Plunkett and Deb Hammond; disribution specialist Jennifer Shanks-Hernandez; Garden Guy columnist George Weigel; our facilities manager/Pigskin Picks leader/college boy Kurt Foley; and other members of The Landmark's cast of characters, including our official Beverage Babe and Hairstylist to the Journalistic Stars, Victoria Lynn-Crook.
Many elected officials and other well-known public figures will be on hand to visit with those in attendance.
Comfort Inn owners Brady and Carey Rodgers donate the use of the facility for the evening. |
