Adam McGinness, local banker and president of the Platte City Chamber of Commerce, was elected to the Platte County R-3 School Board on Tuesday.
McGinness and incumbent Mary Temperelli were top vote-getters at R-3. Two positions were open with three candidates on the ballot. Also running was Alan Williams.
McGinness, who works at Wells Bank in Platte City, received 688 votes, Temperelli 608 and Williams 267.
McGinness will officially take the oath of office later this month. In effect he will be taking the seat of Bob Shaw, longtime board member who did not seek reelection.
The school board ballot was more crowded at Park Hill and at North Platte.
At Park Hill, Todd Fane and Susan Newburger won election to two open spots. A total of eight candidates sought the positions.
Fane received 1303 votes, Newburger 1187. Others running were Boon Lee with 723, Joyce Kallenberger with 564 votes, Donald E. Cole 323, Valerie McCaw 316, Chris Sams 260, and Victor McCance 147.
At North Platte, no incumbents were on the ballot as six newcomers sought the two open positions. Winning were Eric Meadows with 325 votes and Vince Roberts 264. Others running were Bennie Wenzel with 145 votes, John Mann 100, Jon McLaughlin 97, and Jeffrey Stockman 59.
At West Platte, three candidates sought two open seats. Winning were Jeff Vandel and Mark Huber, who each pulled 310 votes. Also running was Christopher Kendall, who finished with 245 votes.
