Music, ice cream on courthouse lawn Saturday
Join in the old fashioned fun of an outdoor concert and ice cream social on the Platte County Courthouse lawn located on Main Street in Platte City's downtown historic district this Saturday night, Aug. 8 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Enjoy a relaxing, free concert featuring Soca Jukebox, one of the Midwest's most sought-after groups with a Caribbean steel drum infusion into one fun-rockin' band.
Bring along your friends, lawn chairs or blankets and basket dinner to enjoy during the concert. VFW Post #4055, Ladies Auxiliary and Boy Scout Troop 351 will provide a free ice cream social, complete with cake and lemonade.
The Platte City Pool, located at 4th & Vine Streets, will provide free entrance to the pool for kids from 6 8 p.m.
The evening’s activities are being provided to the community free of charge by the following organizations: Platte City Area Chamber of Commerce, Platte City Parks & Recreation, Platte City Friends of the Arts, Platte City Lions Club and VFW Post #4055, Ladies Auxiliary and Boy Scout Troop 351.
The Platte City Lions Club will have a table set up for eyeglass donations and information for families in need of assistance with eyeglasses.
