Michael Gunn's arrest
record expunged |
by Alan McArthur
Landmark reporter
The arrest records of Roland Michael Gunn have been expunged after a Platte County judge approved a judgment order.
During a hearing on Tuesday, Judge Daniel Czamanske approved the judgment expunging the records from the files of the Kansas City police board of commissioners.
Lisa Morris, an attorney for the police board, told Czamanske that there may still be records held by the city and the city court system which would not be covered by the judgment order.
A motion was filed by the police board consenting to the record expunging on April 2.
Gunn is an attorney with the firm Gunn, Shank, & Stover. He was represented in the petition by John Shank of the same firm.
The hearing expunged the record of Gunn's arrest from a 2005 incident involving an alleged assault on a process server. Gunn had to be sprayed with mace on multiple occasions during his arrest, police said.
The petition was originally assigned to Judge Abe Shafer, but on January 15, 2009, Shafer disqualified himself from the case, according to court records. The petition was then referred to Judge Lee Hull. It was later assigned to Czamanske.
Gunn was previously an assistant counselor to the Platte County Commission and specialized in planning and zoning work for the county. Gunn had also considered running for county auditor in 2006.
According to his profile on the Gunn, Shank, & Stover website, Gunn is a graduate of Kansas State University. Gunn has served on the executive board of the Parkville Community Development Company, the Platte County Master Planning Committee and the Highway 45 Committee. He is also a naval captain in the Missouri Militia.
