SUSPECT PULLS KNIFE ON EMPLOYEES
GAS STATION ROBBED

by Alan McArthur
Landmark reporter

The Phillips 66 Gas Station at the intersection of Hwy. 92 and the Hwy. 45 Spur east of the Centennial Bridge over the Missouri River was robbed by a man with a knife on Saturday night.

According to Frank Hunter, Platte County Sheriff's Department spokesman, the robbery occurred after 11 p.m. when the suspect entered the store, approached a clerk and took out a knife.

The male suspect then forced the two employees into a back room before taking money from the store's cash register. He also took one of the employee's car keys. The suspect then fled in the employee's green Mercury Mountaineer.

The suspect is described as a white male between 6-foot-3-inches and 6-foot-6-inches tall. The man weighs between 230 and 260 pounds.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a long sleeve black t-shirt, a black ski mask, blue jeans, and brown work boots. There is no estimation of age because the suspect was wearing a mask, according to Hunter.

Leavenworth police recovered the vehicle on Monday around 11:30 a.m. near the corner of Fifth and Dakota Streets in Leavenworth, Kan. The location where the vehicle was found is less than 1.5 miles from the gas station.

According to Hunter, the Platte County Sheriff's Department has taken the vehicle as evidence in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the sheriff's department at 816-858-2424.
