A four-year-old girl was reported missing on Monday, Sept. 3 around noon from her home in the 300 block of Ferrel Street in Platte City.

Platte City police responded to the address to find the mother and an older daughter outside the residence searching for the girl.

A handful of concerned folks joined in the search, roaming an area along Main, Ferrel and Paxton Streets from Fourth to about First Streets.

At one point there was a report of someone seeing an African-American male in a red convertible leaving the area at a high rate of speed. This report turned out to have no connection with the missing girl.

After about 10-15 minutes of searching, it was discovered the girl was next door inside a neighbor’s house.

At the time the little girl was supposed to be in her home while her dad was mowing the same neighbor’s lawn. However, she left the residence and proceeded to the neighbor’s house to play.

The neighbor then noticed the commotion in the street, came outside and told the parents that their daughter was at her house.
