Bob Shaw, local attorney, was elected president of the Platte County R-3 School Board at a reorganizational meeting Tuesday morning.
Shaw, now beginning his fourth term on the board after being re-elected on April 3, was chosen in a split vote over previous president Dick Modin. Voting for Shaw were Trish Stinnett, Dave Holland, Karen Wagoner and Shaw. Voting for Modin were Mary Temperelli, Carey Rolofson, and Modin.
Last year, the vote went 4-3 in favor of Modin over Shaw. Wagoner at that time voted for Modin but this year switched her vote to Shaw.
Also on Tuesday morning, Wagoner was chosen vice president of the board in a split 4-3 vote over Temperelli. Voting for Wagoner were Stinnett, Holland, Shaw and Wagoner. Voting for Temperelli were Modin, Rolofson, and Temperelli.
