On May 4, the United States will
observe its 54th National Day of Prayer.
The NDP was established as an
annual event by an act of Congress in 1952 and
was signed into law by President Truman. President
Reagan amended the law in 1988, designating the
first Thursday of May each year as the NDP. In
observance of this day, the Platte City Area Chamber
of Commerce & Economic Development Council
will hold its 25th Annual Prayer Breakfast at
the Platte City United Methodist Church from 7:00-8:00
a.m.
The church is located at 14040
N. Hwy.
Major Derick White, Pastor/Founder
of the Leavenworth Christian Church will be the
speaker. Major White has served 21 years in the
military. He served in Kuwait in 2004.
Breakfast will be served promptly
at 7 a.m. The menu, prepared by the Methodist
Womens Group, will consist of a variety
of quiche, biscuits & gravy, rolls and muffins,
fresh fruit and juice and coffee. Geraniums, donated
by Nancys Greenhouse, will be given as door
prizes.
This event is open to the public.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Platte
Valley Bank and the Chamber/EDC office.
