A Leavenworth woman died after being involved in a head-on
collision on Hwy. 92 near Tracy in the early morning hours
on Saturday.
According to Captain Frank Hunter of the Platte County
Sheriffs Department, the accident happened 1.5 miles
west of Tracy on Hwy. 92 around 12:41 a.m. Saturday.
At the scene, the sheriffs department found that
a 1999 Chevy S-10 pickup driven by Todd Hickox, 37, of
Platte City had struck a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by
84-year-old Anabelle McFadden of Leavenworth.
It appears the vehicle driven by Hickox in the westbound
lane crossed over into the eastbound lane, striking McFaddens
car head-on.
McFadden was transported to Heartland East in St. Joseph
where she was pronounced dead.
Hickox left the scene of the accident on foot, according
to Hunter, and was subsequently arrested by deputies walking
down Hwy. 92. The suspect did not appear to have any injuries.
Hickox is currently being held in the Platte County Detention
Center on $100,000. He is charged with leaving the scene
of an accident, a Class C Felony.
Hunter said the sheriffs department is currently
working on possible additional charges against Hickox.
