Patrons from various areas in the Platte County R-3 School
District have joined together to determine the district's
five year strategic plan, known as Vision 2007.
"Vision 2007 is to develop objectives and strategies
of the next five years to help us achieve our mission
as a district," said Dr. Mark Harpst, superintendent
of Platte County R-3 Schools.
Harpst, as well as assistant superintendents Ron Harmon
and Greg McPherson, are chairmen of the three committees
of Vision 2007. The committees are comprised of 60 faculty
members, students, community members, parents and business
people.
"We've received great input," said Harpst. "It's
good to see the perspective of people from the community."
Harmon chairs the technology/curriculum committee, which
looks at student achievements. McPherson leads his committee
in student programs and district operations. Harpst's
committee discusses facilities/long-term planning/finance
and community relations.
The final meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday,
Dec. 11 at the high school auditorium.
Harpst said he hopes to have a report prepared for the
school board within six weeks to two months from the final
meeting.
